GENERAL INFORMATION
When are the European Parliament elections?
European Parliament elections are held every 5 years in the Member States of the European Union, so the next one will take place between 6 and 9 June 2024. In Hungary, this election will take place on Sunday 9 June. Polling stations will be open from 6am to 7pm.
Why is voting important?
The MEPs elected to the European Parliament will be responsible for representing Hungary's interests on the European stage. The issues, debates and decisions they raise affect our country. MEPs are involved in negotiations, debates and votes in Brussels and Strasbourg that affect all countries and citizens of the European Union.
How many Hungarian MEPs participate in the European Parliament?
Hungary can have a total of 21 MEPs in the European Parliament.
Who can votes and for what?
Voters can vote for the lists of the parties standing for election. Each party puts forward a list of candidates. Voters can choose from the party lists to support their preferred political tendencies and MEPs.
What happens to those who get the most votes?
The better a party does in an election, the more of its candidates are elected to the European Parliament from the top of the list. Members of the European Parliament are elected for 5 years.
What happens if an MEP does not complete the full 5-year mandate?
If an elected MEP's mandate expires for any reason, the next candidate on the party list that nominated him or her will take his or her place in the order of precedence.
Rules for filling in the ballot paper and voting
A single ballot paper for the European elections, containing the list of the parties standing for election. The only valid vote is for one list. A valid vote consists of an X-shaped mark made up of two intersecting lines.

Let's work together with the EU member states to bring more economic resources to our country, resources that do not serve the enrichment of narrow interest groups, but benefit everyHungarian living within our country and Europe.
Europe is the home of Hungarian products and families. Let's preserve our national values: the food produced by the hard work of Hungarian farmers, the goods produced by domestic companies, which are not only competitive in Europe but often surpass our EU competitors as well.
Let's represent Hungarian interests by being able to trade fairly priced products throughout Europe, opening the doors wide for those seeking Hungarian products. At the same time, let's fight against genetically modified, low-value raw materials and products that poison both our children and our economy.
To be European means that we can proudly say: I am Hungarian! Let's strengthen the European community with our national values: with our knowledge, diligence, and talent. Let'swork together with the EU member states to bring more economic resources to our country, resources that do not serve the enrichment of narrow interest groups but benefit every Hungarian living in Hungary and Europe.
