WHY IS VOTING IMPORTANT?
Municipal elections are important because they elect the leaders of a municipality, county or capital city who will be responsible for solving local issues and problems and for managing development.

WHEN ARE THE LOCAL ELECTIONS?
The 2024 municipal elections will take place on Sunday 9 June. The polling stations will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Hungarian countryside could be full of resources, talented people, beautiful landscapes and a million opportunities.

The Megoldás Movement has set itself the task of making Hungarian villages good places to live again. To make young people return to their homeland, because they can build their successful careers here too. To have a vision for the future locally, not just by leaving the country. So that families can find good quality education opportunities locally, so that their children can develop their skills and create a decent income and living conditions for themselves. So that people of advanced age can enjoy a healthy and active retirement.

Local problems need local solutions
There are different problems and different opportunities in the nearly four thousand municipalities. Local problems need local solutions, not centralised, one-size-fits-all approaches.

This is the aim of the Hungary Model Settlements Programme:
Initiated by the Megoldás Movement, the programme invites prospective municipal leaders to create a model settlement that will provide its citizens with a high-quality, innovative and sustainable environment. The aim is to create a community where people's happiness and well-being are a priority, and where all aspects of life are of an outstanding standard.

The aim of the competition must be nothing less than to ensure that Hungarian citizens live in a high-quality, innovative and sustainable environment. The ultimate goal: every Hungarian should be happy!

THOSE WHO STAND AS A CANDIDATE FOR MAYOR OF ANY MUNICIPALITY IN HUNGARY ON 9 JUNE 2024.

A complex urban development plan.

WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM THE APPLICANT?
Preferably leadership skills that will enable you to create a community where people's happiness and well-being are a priority in all aspects of life.

A STARTING POINT FOR APPLICANTS:
How do you imagine a model settlement in Hungary?

Key features of the model settlement:

A safe and clean environment: the settlement will be designed with the safety of the population and ecological sustainability in mind, where cleanliness and environmental awareness are a priority.

Green and self-sufficient: the green spaces and parks of the municipality will provide a lush, aesthetic environment for its inhabitants. The importance of self-sufficiency will be prioritised, and infrastructure will be developed to enable food and energy supply using local resources.

Carbon neutral and sustainable: the municipality is moving towards carbon neutrality and sustainable energy sources and technologies.

Family-friendly and innovative: The municipality aims to be an ideal place for families to live, where children can grow up in safety and comfort. Building on innovation, we support development in all aspects of life and enhance the community experience.

Excellent public services: the municipality's excellent health and education services and modern infrastructure provide residents with living conditions that are comparable to those in Europe.
